Today has been awesome. Ronan made me a lovely coffee to get me up and ready for my flight, the sun was shining, my plane journey was easy peasy, I was sitting next to a delightful older couple on the flight, I arrived – it was 42 degrees!! I couldn’t believe it. The way the heat hits you when you get off the plane is magical. Then I got a taxi straight to the village where my mum lives, Roquebrune. I grew up here, but I never fully appreciated just how breath-taking this place is.
My mum drove us to Italy to buy cigarettes and chocolates (it’s about a 20 minute drive away) from a quirky little shop just at the border of Italy. The booze is so cheap, not that I drink much. But it’s still crazy to see. Then I took my mum to dinner in our local, The Grotte. The best pizza you will ever eat, seriously. And the lovely Irish waiter made us a special drink, which we named the ”Happy Daze” – original huh? Then my hair went on fire because I was leaning my head over a candle (as you do…) Then I realized I’ve been in three countries in one day. I dunno, I think that’s kinda cool : )
